Helping Providers Credential with Insurance Providers: How-To Guides and Consultations
Based on interest, I am creating how-to guides in addition to offering one-on-one sessions for how to credential with insurance providers.
Are you a mental healthcare provider who is either not credentialed yet with insurance or already credentialed with insurance but wants to have individual contracts?
I have put together resources and am also offering one-on-one sessions to help you understand how to credential your private practice directly with insurance.
Headway, Alma, Grow Therapy, Rula, and others say they offer the convenience of credentialing with insurance and billing. But in my experience, they take away the autonomy of the therapist in how to bill for a session: eg. The therapist cannot offer flexible service plans or truly verify benefits and ensure these platforms will be accurate for every client.
If you have had this issue or other issues with the platforms billing your clients in annoying ways, it’s worthwhile to consider independent credentialing. Independent contracts can serve as a useful backup for you if there is ever an issue and you want the autonomy back with the same simplicity.
I am not suggesting that you give up your contracts with these companies, but am sharing that it’s beneficial to have your own contract as well with the company. If you’re in a group practice and want to move forward with your own private practice credentialing, then you can benefit from the information I’m sharing.
If you are not yet credentialed, and confused by the process, then take a look at what I’m offering, as it can help you too.

Despite being told how challenging it is to receive insurance contracts, I learned through many years how to credential with insurance providers on my own, and in using a electronic health records system (SimplePractice) that integrates insurance billing, I was able to save myself time in support tickets and mis-billed appointments and maintain my billing autonomy.
I have started putting together how-to documents filled with extra tips beyond credentialing that will be useful to know for your practice later-on: such as how to look up clients for a specific insurance plan, and how to discern what the client truly is responsible for.
The platforms that credential on your behalf rely on quick and cheap online lookup tools that offer nowhere near the accuracy of the provider portals themselves.
I’ll be honest and say I learn something new everyday. I chose to take insurance since the beginning of my practice, and I know how beneficial it is in times when I need to have more clients. It helps when networking as oftentimes therapists have clients who are looking for a in-network provider.
I have helped people for free for years, since I was licensed in 2019. I have an acumen for figuring out the complicated steps and moving forward to simplicity. Each insurer is different, and so each set of steps needs to be customized for that reality.
I offer straightforward advice and tips that are not based in marketing speak, but rather just the reality of how the systems work and what works best.
